Who is Central Bucks EMS?

Central Bucks EMS was established in 1959 as a non-profit volunteer ambulance company to provide emergency medical care to our growing community. We were originally founded in 1951 as Central Bucks Fire and Rescue Unit to be changed later in 1959 and officially chartered as Central Bucks Ambulance and Rescue Unit and then to Central Bucks EMS.

We proudly serve nearly 120 square miles

in the following municipalities:

  • Doylestown Borough

  • Buckingham Township

  • New Hope Borough

  • Upper Makefield Township

There are over 160,000 residents in nearly 120 square miles in the communities we serve. Central Bucks EMS has grown with our community and become one of the most active EMS organizations in our region. We have five locations that serve the above areas:

 

  1. First location is located in Doylestown Pennsylvania; where we staff two Advanced Life Support Units during the day and one working 24 hours a day 365 days a year.

  2. Our second location; sub-station 135, is located in Wycombe, Pennsylvania; where we staff one Advanced Life Support Unit 24 hours a day.

  3. Our third location is located at New Hope Volunteer Fire Department where we staff an Advanced Life Support responder unit 24 hours a day.

  4. Our fourth station is located at Meyer Way in Jamison, Pa. where we staff an Advanced Life Support Unit 24 hours a day.

  5. Our fifth station is located on Evergreen Avenue in Warminster, Pa. where we staff an Advanced Life Support Unit 24 hours a day.




Our career staff consists of paid and volunteer personnel. Central Bucks is one of the largest and busiest squad's in the county, expected to respond to nearly 11,000 emergency 911 calls annually. Central Bucks EMS is funded primarily from billable services. Another small portion of our funding is also made up by local tax dollars as well as our membership subscriptions (fund drive) that is generated once a year; and your tax deductible donations.

 

We are a very community oriented organization working closely with our local and state government officials to constantly improve our services to meet the needs of our communities. Central Bucks EMS also works closely with local fire, police, hazmat and other public service agencies to assure our community members get the best possible service no matter what the emergency. Some of these include:

 

  • Bike Team Patrol for local community events (providing highly trained medical personnel; to ensure rapid responses at special events utilizing bicycles outfitted with basic and advanced medical equipment for immediate patient care.

  • Actively participating in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania's STRIKE Team (a program designed to provide medical personnel and equipment in response to an act of terrorism or natural disaster).

  • We are home to the Xplorers where young teenagers can learn important lifesaving skills and leadership.

  • We support and provide EMS services to local events

What we provide for our Community:

 

24 hour Advanced Life Support Coverage. Our EMT's & Paramedics provide the finest care.

Medical Coverage for Special Events. Look around, you will see us at football games, fireworks, and festivals and around town with our bike teams.
